don't sweat it man... it does not make you less of a TRUE HEAD not being INTO the recurrent "SURVIVOR" projects, and i know why.

considering the scope of what came over the many years of the dead's career.... the current offerings by the surviving members are not NEARLY LOFTY ENOUGH in their goals..... the onus is on them to present uniquely new and challenging music to generate the maximum audience support and enthusiastic response.

AND REALLY..... what has brought me to this perspective was seeing elvis "alison" costello's reading of "loser":

elvis plays LOSER

PHIL ESPECIALLY is like one of the LIVING AMERICAN MASTERS..... and while in wide scope this assertion may not sit very comfortably, the high level of musical craft maintained over so many years is unsurpassable.....

and now IMHO he is playing with musicians who are not remotely on his level.... or rather the pity is, he is on their level.....

why isn't he doing gigs with musicians of his own caliber? it takes an enormous amount of energy and creative will to produce the substantial body of work of which Bob Weir and Phil Lesh find themselves the rightful heirs.... but what of it? we never liked them so much in their true time for what they HAD done as for what they MIGHT do.....

and currently the prospect of what they might do is a bit dim.... i dont fault them but they seem to be dealing from a borrowed deck

[...]back when it was just ONE GOLD DOLLAR....anyone know EXACTLY when it became 10? HOW IT WAS REALLY DONE
